Wassssupppppp ⭐️

Foot rest today - been almost 140 days since I bruised it and it’s still healing 🦶 good day of RICE today tho - Rest Ice Compression Elevation

Watched lots of football - VA Tech @ Miami and Washington Huskies @ Rutgers - the Hokies totally got robbed on the last play - they completed a Hail Mary touchdown as time expired but then they reviewed it forever and overturned the call despite there not being indisputable evidence - perhaps some home cookin in FLA - the northern part of that state has gotten slammed the past 30 hours tho so they probably deserve it - good for them

Also good for Cam Ward - former Wazzu QB - go Cougs! Definitely a Heisman Hopeful this season - now I got Mead @ Mt Spokane on SWX which is channel 112 here in the Inland Northwest - full day of sports! Watched Around the Horn and Pardon the Interruption this afternoon - put me in the ol ESPN daytime TV DeLorean - used to watch that show right after Junior High when we first got cable - probably was late ‘05 - I would take a dump and watch those shows cuz the bathroom in the TV room had a sliding door haha - good times 🤙 🦩

🏈AFFL Week 3

Whammy puts the league on notice with another monster high score of the week as he soars past Hawkeyes.

Tenacious D also stays undefeated as his RBs go all HAM on Sam’s Town. MT Moose is still unbeaten as well as Josh Allen remembers his name is Josh Allen and he is a professional NFL quarterback for the Buffalo Bills who likes to get the football equivalent of BUCKETS - she more than doubles up her opponent in a slaughter of the Goathouse. Trophy Wife rounds out the lossless teams as she gets solid K and D production to run by B Team (who is still searching for her first dub). Pink Panthers gets just enough air points to edge out winless Viking Man in the matchup of the week. Finally, Spokane Retrievers gets a good kicking game to slide by the also winless PPE - it’s a long season, folks, and we are all still in this thing after three weeks!

Congrats to B Team who wins Survivor this season - sticking to her gut and trusting to mighty Seattle Seahawks (shame on us PNW traitors - long live the blue and green birds!) B Team also wins the fiver with great pool pickin’ and is left to wonder why everyone else is struggling so much to simply pick the winning football teams - it’s not that hard, guys, B Team is the AFFL Oracle!

Good luck in week 4, league!

Tuesday, September 24, 2024

🏈AFFL Week 2

Whammy slammies Spokane Retrievers who puts up a respectable 99 points but can’t hold off the onslaught - Whammy is Kamara-ready!

Sam’s Town gets a pair of huge WR games from Collins and Jefferson to get by Viking Man who posts the fourth highest point total of the week - a couple tough draws. Goathouse garners three long boots from Fairbairn (at least 53 yards - also a 47 yarder) to squeeze past PPE who gets huge RB production and a solid 98 points - high scoring week for our losing teams! Trophy Wife also gets four FG (from Aubrey) and blows by Pink Panthers. Tenacious D gets positive points from his run game and just enough to slide by Hawkeyes who had even better RB games from his trio. In the Pooper Bowl of the Week, MT Moose has her Kicker and Defense as her highest point scorers but manages to wander past B Team - these teams scored less combined points than a losing Viking Man this week!

Despite being this week’s lowest point getter, B Team crushes the competition in pool picks to grab the fiver - great pickin’ out of Okie! All the Survivor teams have now officially been vanquished save for Tenacious D, B Team, Goathouse Squad and Whammy - it’s a four horse race and anyone’s ballgame - let the best gambler win - start your engines, ladies and germs!

Good luck to our teams this week - keep it up!

🏈AFFL Week 1

Goathouse is the GOAT for week one as he snags the pool picks, his first W as he smashes Spokane Retrievers and the highest score of the week (for what it’s worth).

In the matchup of the week, PPE almost comes back from a huge deficit against Trophy Wife but falls just short - 112+ points wins almost every week! The Tenacious one gets a big FG week (Grupe chat!) (big FG week in general) to skate by Viking Man. Hawkeyes gets prime time points from Saquon as he flies by B Team. The Moose gets a typical monster Josh Allen week to squeeze past Sam’s Town. Finally, Whammy gets enough from his RBs to get by Pink Panthers in the Pooper Bowl of the Week.

Tenacious D, Trophy Wife, MT Moose and Goathouse Squad were all on Cincy who got edged out at home by the lowly Patriots but all are buying back in to continue their quest for the title of sole Survivor.

Great week one and best of luck this week, teams!

So 817 games as a Brave the most, 617 as a Dodger, 1614 in the career, 7237 played appearances, 1,063 runs, a big-time run scorer, 311 doubles, 69 triples, led the league with 10 in 03, All-Star 03 with the Braves, 010 with the Dodgers, 012 with the Cardinals. Another one, how many switch hitters have been All-Stars with at least three different teams? Get on that, Elias.

The most home runs in the season, only 15 in 03 and 06. Only 587 RBI, literally almost twice as many runs as RBI. A crazy ratio of runs to RBI.

I believe he was definitely a lead-off hitter. But 314 stolen bases. Only 94 cost ceiling, 46 and 10 cost ceiling in 05, his best season.

Rookie of the Year, he[…]”

📺Curb Your Enthusiasm spec script

Curb is mainly an improvisational show which is why it is funny to write a spec script for it - enjoy!

“Pocketful of Almonds”

Larry is out for a stroll on the Malibu beach with Charles Barkley - he notices that the Chuckster is reaching into the pocket of his khaki pants and snacking on a lil treat.

Larry - “…so anyway the ice cream cone melted and we all called it a day. Chuck, what are you eating there? Lemme get some of that.”

Charles - “Man, Larry why you always gotta be up in my business? It’s almonds - my doctor recommended them for gut health…and cuz I like the taste.”

Larry - “Ah, the Almond Brothers, we should call ourselves - bahahaha - I am a comedian, you know, I like to make jokes - it’s polite to laugh sometimes, like a Milk Bone for a dog - makes us know we are on the right track.”

Chuck - “Yeah yeah Larry, I was one of the funniest guys in the league - I know funny. *Drops almond by accident and quickly picks up a small object and pops it in his mouth before Larry notices* *A loud crunch noise bursts out and Larry turns to Chuck as he winces*

Larry - “Ouch - Chuck, are you OK? You look like your mouth is in pain.”

Chuck - “Ah man, I just bit down on a giant pebble of sand - thought it was an almond that I dropped and picked up quickly - dang, man, I gotta call my dentist now.”

Larry - “So sorry to hear that - wait why are you calling Rick Fox?”

Chuck - “Rick Fox is the second cousin of my dentist - I call Rick to set up appointments.”

Larry - “Your dentist receptionist is a three time NBA champion? He’s got more rings than you, Chuck!”

Chuck - “OK now that is NOT funny, Mr. Comedian.”

The two laugh and decide to go get froyo to temporarily ease the Chuckster’s mouth pain while he tries to get ahold of Rick Fox.

⚾️Baseball Mostly 9/7

“yeah, go Cougs. Let's go. Elvis Andrus, shortstop, that's right, throws right.

Venezuela, August 26th, 1988. Marisee, Venezuela, 09 through 2023. He officially retired now, but has not played in the majors since last season.

Boris Corporation, two-time officer, war number 1, 1721. Speaking of war, 34.2. Very good career war.

7772 at bats, 2,091 hits. It's a lot of hits these days. 102 homers, 269 batter.

Not a ton of power at shortstop there. Only 695 OPS. Only 86 for you OPS Plus subscribers.

Well below average, actually. So, there's not a power hitter at all. 20 home runs season high in 2017.

380 doubles, though. A lot of doubles. Also season high 2017, 44.

So a big double man, 51 triples on the career. 775 RBI, 1,058 runs, 100 runs. Also season high, also 2017.

But surprisingly not an all-star in 2017. 2010 and 2012 all-stars. 15 seasons, 12 with the Texas Rangers.

Then one and a half with the Oakland A's. One and a half with the Chi Sox. And second in Rookie of the Year, in 09, who beat him, Andrew Bailey, pitcher Oakland A's.

All right, what about post-season? Five different[…]”

“make sure to listen to my Summer house song, Lover Boy. Shout out ZZ Top. Heard this song at work.

I Shazamed it yesterday, or the other day. Rough Boy. I literally thought they were saying Lover Boy though.

So I parodied it. Jason Bartlett, shortstop. That's right, throws right.

Six foot, 190 Mountain View, California. October 30th, 1979. St. Mary's High School, St. Mary's, California.

San Joaquin Delta College, and Oklahoma Sooner. Out there in Norman. Shout out cousin Becky in Oklahoma.

He made an all-star team, played 04 through 2014. War number 18, 8, 11. Speaking of war, 18.4, 3,141 at bats, 849 hits.

Only 31 homers on the career. 270 hitter. Swing badda badda.

Name the movie? Ferris Bueller's Day Off. 1986.

Probably, I would say, you asked me, what's your favorite movie of all time? Ferris Bueller's Day Off is the answer. I got it for Christmas.

I think I was 13 years old. Christmas 06. Uncle Steve, friend of the podcast, uncle of the podcast.

Several appearances on the podcast. Yeah, that was a gift from him. 892 games.

“Carlos Quentin, outfield, bats right, throws right. 6'1, 235, University High School, San Diego, California.

Stanford, two-time All-Star, silver slugger. War number seven, 20, 18. Speaking of war, 10.5 on the career.

Only 2,790 at best. 702 hits, 154 homers. Another one of those high homerun to hit ratio.

252 batter. 06 through 2014, the career. Nine seasons, four with the White Sox, three with the hometown Padres.

Couple actually started off as a Arizona Dimeback. I don't even remember that. Remember him mostly as a White Sox.

All-star with them in 08 and 011. His first and final season with the Chi Sox. And 834 career games, fifth in MVP in 08.

Let's highlight that 08 season. 20 hit-by-pitches, 23 hit-by-pitches led Majors in 2011, 17 hit-by-pitches led the Majors in 2012. 100 RBI, 36 homers by far at the season high in 08.

26 doubles, 173 doubles on the career. Slightly more than homeruns. 288 batted in 08, 394 on base.

That's impressive. 347 on base on the career. 95 points higher than his batting average.

“Cron, first base, that's right, throws right. He is retired, 2014 through 23, January 5th, 1990, from Fullerton, California. Grew up in Phoenix and University of Utah, a Ute.

Ute, got to be kidding me. Dude, I went to a Utah basketball game. They played Lonzo Ball in UCLA, January 2017.

I was going to Wazoo, my third stint at Wazoo at the time. One time all-star, CJ. Crone, Crony, or Big Fella.

Brother Kevin Crone, son of Chris Crone. Chris Crone played briefly from 91 to 92, 12 games, and let's see.

Kevin Crone played 47 games, 2019 through 20. All right.

War number 20, 24, 44, 26, 25. Enjoys the 20 numbers. I'm just laughing, because I'm just feeling so bombastic right now.

because I've been listening to Tim Dillon and Joe Rogan this morning. I'm just laughing and having a good time, and imagining the Chinese AI takeover of America in the next few decades. And just like laughing to myself, and just being like, dude, what was this world going to be, dude?

Matt Adams. First base, pinch hit. Left field, 6'3, 263.

Phillipsburg, PA. August 31st, just celebrated birthday. Just turned 36.

1988. 2019 World series Chomp. Washington Nationals.

Shout out DC. That DC squad. You know, now I'm more of a DC guy than Marvel.

All right. Which MOB team is the Marvel team? The Marvelous Mets.

War number 53, 32, 18, 15. Speaking of war, 4.9 career, 2,421 at bats, 624 hits, 118 homers. That's a crazy home run to hit ratio.

258 batter, 10 seasons, 856 games, 297 runs, 130 doubles. Slightly more than home runs. 399 RBI.

Stuck on the cusp of 400. Three different years in the playoffs. 2013, 14 with the Cardinals.

2019, won it all in DC. Seven seasons as a St. Louis Cardinal. Also briefly with the braves and rockies.

Championship win probability added negative 10.2%. 0.09 win probability added. 229 batter in the playoffs.

Playoffs. But does have four home runs. What about the money?

14.2 million. So, I mean, pretty good money for kind of like a pinch hitter type. And similar players.

“Y'all ready, then? Here we go.

Anthony Rendon, he's with the Angels. Third base, second base. 6'1, 200, 34 years old.

One-time All-Star 2019 World Series Chomp with the Washington Nattinals. We're rolling through these DC guys. Two-time Silver Slugger as well.

Ware's number 6, as well as Warrett. Speaking of War, .5 this season, 33.6 on the career. 4,337 at-bats, 1,217 hits, 158 homers.

Zero home runs in 193 at-bats this season. That's odd. He's batting 228 this season, compared to 281 on the corridor.

It's his 12th season, the first seven in DC. It's his fifth with the Angels. Postseason, 31 games, four different years, seven series, 23.5% championship win probability added.

370 on base, 18 walks, 21 RBI, five home runs postseason, 33 hits. Very good postseason. 4.7 war per 162.

So compared to 5.1 for the average Hall of Fame third baseman, of which there are 17. So he's actually not too far off, although his career war is less than half that of the average Hall of Fame third baseman. 217.3 million on the career.

Speaking of war, 35.0, 5,950 at bats, 1,747 hits, 127 homers, 294 batter. That's an amazing batting average.
