Two-time Big Sky regular season chomp, two-time Big Sky coach of the year, both the past two seasons with Eastern Washington 2021 through 24. Then an assistant at Eastern 2014 through 21, and graduate assistant 2011 through 13, and played at Whitworth here in Spokane.
And, quite the player.
He starred for the Pirates, three time All-Northwest Conference First Team Selection, finished his career, ranked fourth all time in points, 1,664, along with making four NC2A Division III Men's Basketball Tournament appearances, including two Sweet 16s and an Elite 8.
And played under coach Jim Hayford, which I was considering dedicating an episode to. I'll just run through Jim Hayford pretty quick now. Jim Hayford, 57-year-old, maybe one of the best college basketball coaches you've never heard of.
424 wins, 230 losses. Just a ridiculous percent. Head coach at Sioux Falls, 99-01.
Whitworth, 01-2011. Eastern Washington, 2011-17. And Seattle, 2017-21.
So David Riley went with him to Eastern after Whitworth. And he resigned, Jim Hayford, November 11th, Veterans Day of 2021. Resigned after it[…]”
