“Yeah, life is good, brother. Yeah, brother. What's up, brother?

Baseball Mostly, brother. Dale Murphy. We're trying to pin down the AFFL draft day.

We gotta get a fancy football draft going, baby. Dude, wait, isn't, speaking of football, isn't the Hall of Fame, Hall of Fame game is today. Bears Texans, 5 p.m. West Coast time, West Coast, best coast.

So yeah, speaking of football, it really snuck up on us this year. I don't consider it football season. Till like, I'd say till like Labor Day, really.

I'm still in like baseball and like Olympics mode. All right, Dale Murphy, Alfield, first base catcher. Bats right, throws right.

6-4, 2-10, March 12th, 1956. Portland, Oregon. I was gonna do current players from Oregon, just like I did current players from Washington.

But then I've been taking a step back from my second episodes because I think I overwhelm the listener. Ha ha ha, Woodrow Wilson High School, Portland, Oregon, BYU, and Provo, Utah. September 13th, 1976, debuted at just 20, 13,813th player to do such.

Two for four, with two RBI versus the Dodgers in that debut. Also played the Dodgers in the final game, May[…]”

“already worked this morning. We had our annual meeting, team meeting.

It's kind of funny. It's like a reunion for work, because not everyone is at the store every time you go to work. But I got to see everybody, good times, find out.

I'm either gonna die or get terminated, or both. Ha, ha, ha, it's like I love the kind of fear mongering that our society thrives on fear mongering at all levels. Whether it's like the local, or like the micro, or the macro, the USA Today, or just be at the team meeting.

And yeah, it's kind of funny though. And then you also get to see like the diversity, where there's like 30 people, and it's kind of like a sample size of Spokane County. And it's like, there's like a lot of very different people in this small group, because we have kind of a small group at work.

And then I'm looking at like one of my coworkers, they're wearing shorts, and I'm looking at their calves, and they're just like, dude, some people in Spokane have the whitest like legs, just the whiteness of their like calves. I'm like, have you ever[…]”

That's just the end of the podcast right there.

Oh, it was a, he was practicing landings in his aircraft at Akron Canton airport. He died in a crash.

Ask Arne

Welcome to my new advice column, where I field questions from readers around the country

Hi Arne,

Long time, first time - let’s cut straight to the chase.

I wanna make a movie - let’s call it “Thrift”

It’s gonna reunite Seth Rogen and Michael Cera - big time Superbad reunion - the people are gonna love it. It will be set in a small Midwest town - let’s say Wet Falls, Kansas. Couple brothers - long lost but now hanging out - they go to a local thrift shop in search of a fun outfit for a themed murder mystery 80s party - think Top Gun meets Friday the 13th.

They end up purchasing this cool backpack - super retro - like Jansport on steroids and acid. After getting home and searching through the numerous pockets more thoroughly, they find a small sack containing $50 grand in 100 dollar bills - cold Benjamins - and a lot of ‘em.

They get hunted down by a pack of wicked gangsters over a series of hilarious events in the next couple weeks - think Tower Heist meets I Love You, Man with a whiff of Pineapple Express.

Here’s where you come in - you lived and worked in Hollywood for almost 4 years - how can you help me get this spec script in the right hands and in front of the correct eyeballs?

Would love to hear your feedback - also, do you know Judd Apatow? Need to make some connects to get more in the game - you know, like networking kinda stuff.

Peace! ☮️ ✌️

The Onion: Obituary Writer Dies

Longtime obit penner at the Florida Tree Mail, Dale Duncan IV, has passed away from an apparent alligator mauling on the 4th of July. Duncan was 69 years old.

Dale Duncan was out for an evening stroll with his Shitzu, Larry, when he happened up what he thought was a giant rock in which he took rest upon - it was the last thing DD IV ever did as he was swallowed up by the gator in one fell swoop. Larry managed to escape to a nearby animal shelter where he barked various sounds to communicate with local dogs (like the movies - it’s real though - dogs have been proven to speak to each other via ruffs and grrrrrrrs).

Dale Duncan will be survived by Larry, 9, and his ten foot pet cobra, Probst (named after his favorite show, Survivor, and their host Jeff Probst). His neighbor, Ben, told the FTM that he will miss their weekly checkers matches they held Wednesday nights before and after Survivor.

The Onion: Afterlife Starts Charging Rent

The Pearly Gates, HV

Looks like the free ride is over - time to pay up, you free-loading, everlasting soul biatches!

Heaven will now be costing a pretty penny for its occupants - it will be tough for any soul to find a space to stay for less than a grand a month - this is the big leagues!

As for purgatory, you can find a noice bungalow for about $850 a month but you will have to share it with another soul - careful cuz they like digging into your Cap’n Crunch without asking - and they even left the lid open for the cute lil miceys!

Even Hell is gonna cost ya - they don’t call him the Devil for nothin! It’s gonna run ya about $666 for a tiny studio on the intersection of Fire and Brimstone - careful - it gets hella hot in the Summer! (Don’t worry - it’s always Summahhhhhhhh 😎)

“I couldn’t believe these prices - after gettin steamrolled by that Mack Truck, I thought that would the end of my money woes - boy, was I wrong - you just never stop getting railed by the Man…for eternity”, yells a lonely soul from Poughkeepsie, New York by way of the Bardo.

Speaking of the Bardo, you can find a lovely two bedroom Bardo beauty but it’s gonna cost ya over two grand a month - who has that kind of coin? Especially when you can’t log in to your old bank accounts! Dang humans.

Alas, let’s hope for the best - maybe our souls have souls that won’t get squeezed out by inflation and competition - it’s a ruthless world, after all!
